About Me
I'm Phil and I'm currently a student at Teesside University studying BSc Computer Games Programming. I love creating games that people can play and enjoy playing, which is probably why I'm on my current course!
I originally started playing around with games through making 3d models for a game as part of an indie games development team, which sadly didn't make it. Following that I gained experience in Maya and also Blender just through modelling random scenes and objects.
I then came across C++ and bought a book about it, however having not programmed before I found the concepts and syntax hard and so turned back to my modelling. After some time I picked up DarkBASIC and found that it was really quite easy to program and create games, and continued using it for some time.
Once the C++ version of DarkBASIC was released for free I switched over and felt that my knowledge of programming in DB helped a lot in my understanding of C++ and so I learnt much about the language in a short space of time.
In my decision to study Computer Games Programming at Teesside University the sheer sense of achievement when creating something that works when programming swayed me over and through a year of study I've found myself creating 2D games for my course and look forward to future modules including Games AI, multiplayer programming and learning more about OpenGL and Direct3D.
This website was created by some of my friends and I in 2005 in an attempt to create an original gaming website with loads of fun stuff, and after some time it fell into disuse. Following this I attempted to revive the team by entering a game development competition using DarkBASIC that unfortunately didn't get completed, and since then this website has served as a personal store of my creations and media. As of December 2009 I have rebuilt the website using PHP/mySQL to serve as my personal portfolio for any who wish to view it.
